I was there with Alfredo Villar. It a very interesting place for Nouvelle Cuisine. It deserves the excursion. The facilities are superb. The cellar is impressive. It is better to make a reservation.

Cuines Santa Caterina

I have returned several times since the first time (04/June/2007). The quality remains the same but last time, last week, I learnt that it is better to go in small parties, i.e. no more than 8, if you like to have only one table and a reasonable serving timing.

Cuines Santa Caterina. Av. Francesc Cambó, 20 , Mercado de Santa Caterina. Barcelona. + 34932689918. I was there with Manel Poch, Antonio López-Navidad, Steve Willmott and Helena Martínez (under her recommendation). The place has 4 kitchens that offer cuisine of 4 different styles: Asian, Mediterranean, Italian and vegetarian. This is this a nice idea as people can get a choice of his/her taste easily. The bad news is that the kitchens are not coordinated. Prices are still reasonable. The list of wines is not very large but enough. The offer nice magnums.

The decoration fits perfectly with the style. The serve nice portions (not tapas) at the bar. This belongs to the Tragaluz group

Can Ravell

I returned to Can Ravell with Helena Martínez. The quality is high and the portions are small. My main concern is that you do not have a list with prices and it really expensive when you start to add delicatessens to your meals. Last time, see bellow, I forgot to say that they have a room for groups.

Bucharest

I was visiting Bucharest and our guest Luiza Spiru brought me to several interesting places to eat, let me share them with you.

• Mesogios. Str. Jean Louis Calderon 49. Tel +40 21 3134951. This is an elegant and cosy Fish and seafood restaurant. They are specialized in Mediterranean food (greek style). It is better to make a reservation. In their webpage they announce that they accept America Express but the do not, be care.
  
• Zafferano. Str. Popa Savu 29. Tel +40 21-2227210. This an Italian restaurant with a very traditional cuisine. Very correct and a nice selection of local wines, they deserve the try. The place is located in a very nice house. The service is correct.

Octubre 18

• Octubre 18. c/Julián Romea, 18. Barcelona Tel +3493 218 25 18. I returned after few years and the place keeps a cosy atmosphere. The food is reasonable with a good relation quality/price. The house wine is an interesting young Tempranillo. Monday to Saturday from 13:30-15:30 hr and from 21-23 hr. Saturday from 21-23 hr. Closed: Saturday midday. Sunday
